The Zagreb Technical Museum was established in 1954 as a museum dedicated to showcasing the development and history of technology in Croatia. It is well known for housing the oldest steam engine in the region, dating back to the mid-19th century and still in working condition.

The Zagreb Technical Museum is divided into different sections, including energy conversion, transportation (land, sea, and air), space, geology, agriculture, Croatian science and crafts, and firefighting. The agriculture section tells the story of the development of agriculture in Croatia and displays historical farming tools, which are categorized into two main types: digging tools (hoes and spades) and cultivating tools (plows and plowshares), all reflecting the wisdom of the laboring people. The transportation section features land, sea, and air vehicles such as boats, airplanes, cars, trams, trains, bicycles, motorcycles, horse-drawn carriages, and more, offering an overwhelming variety. The geology section explores the formation of the Earth and its internal structure, showcasing minerals, rocks, and other substances found on our planet.

The Zagreb Technical Museum is open from 9:00 to 17:00 Tuesday to Friday, and from 9:00 to 13:00 on weekends. It is closed on Mondays and public holidays. Visitors interested in Croatia can plan their visit accordingly.
