Marton Museum

The Marton Museum is located in Zagreb, the capital of Croatia. Established in 2003, it is the first private museum in Croatia, named after its founder Veljko Marton. The museum primarily showcases European applied arts from the 18th to 19th centuries.

As one of the few private museums in Europe, the Marton Museum boasts a rich and diverse collection divided into five major sections: porcelain, silverware, glassware, furniture and clocks, and paintings. The porcelain collection, categorized by country, includes Viennese porcelain, German porcelain, Russian porcelain, and Sèvres porcelain—all exquisite pieces. With over 1,000 pieces of Viennese porcelain, the collection represents various styles and was created through years of research and craftsmanship by renowned artisans, with each piece being a masterpiece that inspires awe. Most of the museum's silverware belongs to the Biedermeier period, with a smaller portion from the Rococo and Neoclassical periods of the 18th century. Glassware is among the museum’s most important collections, featuring early 19th-century Biedermeier-style pieces.

The painting collection at the Marton Museum is also remarkably diverse, featuring numerous early 19th-century works in the Biedermeier style, most of which are closely related to Croatia.
