Dubrovnik

Dubrovnik is a port city in southern Croatia, facing the eastern coast of the Italian Peninsula. Located at the end of the Dubrovnik Isthmus, it is renowned for its beautiful scenery and is a well-known resort destination, earning the nickname "Pearl of the Adriatic." The city is one of the centers of the Croatian language and literature, and has been the home of many poets, playwrights, mathematicians, physicists, and other scholars.

Dubrovnik is divided into the Old Town and the New Town. It is famous for its well-preserved Old Town, which has been listed as a UNESCO World Heritage Site. The Old Town features a 14th-century pharmacy, churches, monasteries, an ancient and magnificent Rector’s Palace, and a spectacular bell tower. The Dubrovnik City Walls, built between the 14th and 15th centuries and expanded and reinforced in the 17th century, are the city’s most iconic structure and the historical monument that locals are most proud of. Due to the well-preserved walls, the popular TV series “Game of Thrones” chose this location for filming. The fictional King’s Landing and many southern scenes were shot here.

Dubrovnik is known for the annual Dubrovnik Summer Festival, which lasts 45 days and takes place from July 10 to August 25 each year, featuring a variety of exhibitions, concerts, performances, and more.
