Casa da Música

Casa da Música, also known as "Casa do Porto," is the main concert hall in the city of Porto, Portugal. Designed by Dutch architect Rem Koolhaas, it was part of the 2001 European Capital of Culture program. Due to its distinctive appearance, it has become an iconic building in the city.

Located in the bustling city center, Casa da Música has received international acclaim for its design and is regarded as one of Rem Koolhaas’s most beautiful creations. It is highly qualified to be considered one of the most classic concert hall architectures of the past century, with a representative status comparable to that of the Guggenheim Museum Bilbao. The main construction material of the concert hall is white concrete, and the seating inside is made from cork, Portugal's most abundantly produced material. The concert hall features two main auditoriums: the larger one can accommodate at least 1,238 people, with the possibility of increasing the number of seats flexibly. The smaller auditorium has a fixed capacity of 300 seats or 650 standing spots, though the numbers may vary depending on performance needs, venue setup, and sound equipment size.

Several public areas in Casa da Música can also be used as small performance venues, suitable for academic seminars or other music education activities.
