Attraction Introduction

The Stubai Glacier (Stubaital), at an altitude of 3150 meters, is the highest peak in the Tyrol region. Even during the height of summer in Innsbruck, just a one-hour journey away, you can be instantly transported to a wintry scene of snowy peaks. The glacier’s year-round icy beauty and the expansive, serene valley offer a truly otherworldly experience.

The Stubai Tramway goes directly from downtown Innsbruck to the top of the Stubai Valley at Fulpmes. Scenic rolling hills, the spectacular Alpine Animal World, the Forge Museum, the Adler Mountain, Serles Mountain, and glacier tours (Stubai Glacier) are among the main highlights.

Every July and August, free guided glacier tours are offered from Eisgrat Peak (2900m) to Jochdohle Peak (3150m). This route is also the only path leading into the interior of the glacier and is safe and reliable. The guided tours start daily at 11:00 AM, with mountain experts providing detailed commentary along the way.

The Adler Peak Restaurant (at 3150 meters altitude) is the highest-elevation restaurant in Austria. Here you can enjoy both mountain sunshine and delicious food while taking in views that stretch as far as Venice. This modern restaurant is fixed to an open-air cliff platform with a steel structure, and when the glacier slightly melts, the restaurant appears to gently float on the ice.
