Mozart was one of the greatest musicians of the 18th century, spending the last years of his life in Vienna where he composed widely loved works such as "The Magic Flute" and "The Marriage of Figaro." The "Vienna Mozart Concert in Costume" is one of the most distinctive concerts in the region. Performances take place at the famed Musikverein Golden Hall, Brahms Hall, and the Vienna State Opera, brought to life by the Vienna Mozart Orchestra. All ensemble members perform wearing wigs and 18th-century period attire. Not only is the visual presentation meticulously authentic, but the performance style is also deeply “classical.” Acts follow the concert traditions of the time, featuring renowned movements from symphonies along with soprano and tenor arias and duets. The program is richly varied and spectacular. Music lovers can enjoy Mozart’s famous pieces, and as with the Vienna New Year’s Concert, the orchestra concludes with an encore—Johann Strauss II’s "The Blue Danube" and Johann Strauss I’s "Radetzky March," often transporting countless listeners through time and immersing them in the opulent aristocratic dreams of the 18th century.
