Hofburg Palace

Hofburg Palace is a palace complex located in Vienna, the capital of Austria. It once served as the winter residence of the Habsburg monarchs of the Austro-Hungarian Empire. Today, the Hofburg Palace houses the office of the President of Austria and is also the birthplace of Queen Marie Antoinette of France.

From 1275 to 1913, Hofburg Palace underwent multiple renovations and reconstructions, eventually evolving into the labyrinthine structure it is today, consisting of 18 wings, 19 courtyards, and 2,500 rooms. Covering an area of 240,000 square meters, the palace complex includes 18 buildings, 54 entrances, 19 courtyards, and 2,900 rooms, earning it the nickname "City within a City." The palace is built along a slope and is divided into the Upper and Lower Belvederes, each with its own garden. The Upper Belvedere was used for imperial offices, receptions, and grand ceremonies, while the Lower Belvedere served as residential quarters.

Hofburg Palace bears witness to various European architectural styles, encompassing Gothic, Renaissance, Baroque, Rococo, and the neoclassical style of the late 19th century, all harmoniously integrated within its walls.
