The Seurasaari Open-Air Museum (Seurasaari Open-air Museum) is situated on a verdant island just a few kilometers away from central Helsinki. The open-air museum showcases traditional houses, estates, and auxiliary structures from various parts of Finland dating back to the 18th and 19th centuries, offering visitors a glimpse into traditional Finnish ways of life.

Every summer, the site hosts numerous events such as folk dancing and performances by foreign artists. Many young Finnish couples choose to hold their wedding ceremonies at the romantic Karuna Church on this idyllic island. On the eve of Midsummer Festival (Mid Summer Festival), residents of Helsinki gather on the island’s beaches to light grand bonfires, celebrating the arrival of the longest day of the year. The Midsummer celebration on Seurasaari is the largest in all of Finland.

The Seurasaari Open-Air Museum also organizes a variety of workshops and programs during the summer, giving visitors the opportunity to experience ancient folk customs and traditions. Staff dressed in traditional costumes demonstrate folk crafts. During Midsummer, thousands of people flock here to celebrate amid blazing bonfires. The museum is closed in winter but remains open to skiers and hikers.
