Tourism Boom: Quick Guide to 5 Newly Opened Hotels in Greater Taipei

Although Chinese tourists are no longer coming, Taiwan’s hotels continue to open one after another. Recently, five new or trial-operating hotels have launched in the Greater Taipei area. Among them, the Caesar Metro Taipei in Wanhua District, Taipei City, and the Caesar Park Banqiao in Banqiao both belong to the Caesar Hotel chain. Additionally, the first Asia-Pacific location of citizenM, an international hotel chain from Amsterdam, has chosen a site near Taipei’s North Gate.

Despite the decline in Chinese tourists and the seemingly sluggish tourism market, Caesar Hotels has gone against the trend by opening five hotels in the Greater Taipei area in the second half of 2017. Among them, the Caesar Park Banqiao in Banqiao District, New Taipei City—a five-rail integrated location—is the only five-star international tourist hotel in New Taipei City and is currently in trial operation.

The exterior of Caesar Park Banqiao features a giant sky lantern representing Taiwanese culture, symbolizing hope and brightness. The building houses a total of 400 guest rooms, three restaurants (a Chinese restaurant, a buffet, and an Italian restaurant), and on the 32nd floor rooftop, there is an infinity pool similar to that of Marina Bay Sands in Singapore, offering sweeping views of the city skyline.

Caesar Metro Taipei, branded as “Taipei Caesar Metro Taipei,” is a new hotel brand created by Caesar Hotels. Trial operations began on August 1. The hotel offers 745 guest rooms in three styles: light industrial, luxury, and elegant. The light industrial style features iron elements and distressed wood flooring to highlight a modern feel; the luxury rooms exude understated elegance accented by crystal chandeliers; and the elegant rooms use soft sage green tones to help guests relax. The overall brand style emphasizes youthfulness, fashion, simplicity, and convenience. In addition to domestic guests, the hotel also targets travelers from Japan, Korea, Singapore, Malaysia, Southeast Asia, and Europe & America, with an estimated first-year occupancy rate of 50–60%.

Caesar Metro Taipei Chang’an Flagship Branch
Caesar Hotels operates eight business hotels. Its newest addition, the Caesar Metro Taipei Chang’an Flagship Branch, officially opened in July. Upholding Japanese-style service principles, it creates a fresh and comfortable accommodation space in the bustling Nanjing shopping district. With excellent soundproofing and thoughtful room designs, it meets the needs of every business traveler, offering a stay comparable to a five-star business hotel.

After more than two years of preparation, hotelpoispois began trial operations in August. The hotel has 39 rooms, with a restaurant on the first floor and a bar on the second. The reception lobby is uniquely located on the 10th floor. Transparent glass windows extend outward from the space, connecting to an exclusive rooftop garden in Taipei’s East District. Guests are greeted with views of Taipei 101 and a 270-degree panoramic cityscape, along with gyroscope chairs for entertainment.

Poispois means “dots” in French and is pronounced similarly to the Chinese word for “bubble.” As a result, hotelpoispois is affectionately nicknamed the Bubble Hotel. The hotel uses dots and bubbles as its two main design themes, conceptualized as being enveloped in one’s own bubble. It creates a free, unrestricted, yet private and tranquil sensory space experience in Taipei’s East District. It is also Taipei’s first hotel tailored for women who are passionate about travel and lifestyle.

The international hotel chain citizenM, originating from Amsterdam, chose Taipei’s North Gate as its first stop in the Asia-Pacific region. Located near Taipei Main Station and the Airport MRT, it opened in July and is also the first international trendy hotel in the Ximending area. The hotel has a total of 267 rooms, all of a single room type, with nightly rates ranging from NT$4,000 to NT$6,000.

citizenM uses a 24-hour self-service check-in system, allowing guests to complete the check-in process in under one minute. The system also stores personal information on RFID-enabled room keys. All citizenM rooms are of a single type, featuring comfortable king-size beds—there are no single or double bed options, nor extra bed services. The tech-savvy touch panels control all switches, appliances, air conditioning, curtains, lighting colors, alarms, music, and movies, while also recording individual guest preferences to automatically recreate their preferred room settings upon return.
