Rosenborg Castle

Rosenborg Castle is one of Denmark's most famous castles, located in King's Park in the northern part of Copenhagen. In 1606, King Christian IV (1577–1648) built a park on what was then the outskirts of Copenhagen, calling it King's Park (Kongens Have). Although the park was picturesque, it lacked a suitable building, leaving something of a void. So, King Christian IV began constructing a castle in the northeast corner of the park. After several renovations, it was completed in 1624, becoming the Rosenborg Castle we see today.

Rosenborg Castle is uniquely designed and exquisitely small, adding a charming allure to King's Park. Thanks to the park’s prime location, its small lake, numerous sculptures, floral and foliage embellishments, and the backdrop of Rosenborg Castle, King's Park has become one of the most enchanting parks in Copenhagen. Since 1740, Rosenborg Castle has been used as a treasure chamber to display royal collections, featuring crowns of successive kings, gold and silver jewelry, precious hardwood furniture, and other invaluable treasures. As you stroll through the castle admiring the rich exhibits, it’s like stepping back in time through the eras of Christian IV to Frederick IV.
