The weekend has arrived, so we took a quick two-day, one-night trip to Copenhagen. This year, while living in Sweden, I made a plan to visit the four Nordic countries. After Sweden, the second country on my list was Denmark. Living in the Nordic region has its perks — those under 26 can purchase SAS Youth Tickets starting from just HK$730 for round-trip flights to various European countries, including one piece of checked luggage. We departed from Stockholm in the morning and after about an hour’s flight, arrived at the Danish capital, Copenhagen. Compared to Stockholm, the Swedish capital, Copenhagen feels much smaller, with only two metro lines and trains that consist of just three carriages. Because of the compact city size, you can basically walk to all the major attractions.
Church of Our Saviour (Vor Frelsers Kirke)
We set off from Copenhagen Airport and took the metro to the Christianshavn station, a journey that took just 15 minutes. Here, we visited the Church of Our Saviour, which offers panoramic views of the entire city of Copenhagen.

From below, you can see that the upper section of the staircase is outdoors — a rather rare sight. The weather in the Nordic region is generally quite cold, so climbing to the top in the wind isn’t the most comfortable experience.

But we made it to the top in the end, and from there we could see the whole of Copenhagen. It really gives you a sense of how compact the city is.
It gave off an Amsterdam-like vibe. Since coming to the Nordic region, I’ve rarely seen blue skies, so I was lucky to enjoy such unusually beautiful weather today.

Then, along the shopping street, we arrived at Rundetårn, an observatory that also allows you to climb to the top for a panoramic view
The view from the top of this tower isn’t as beautiful as that from Vor Frelsers Kirke, but it’s closer to the city center

We started out without a specific destination, just wandering aimlessly toward the setting sun, searching for a great spot to photograph the sunset. This is a trampoline by the river, and with the golden sunset, it felt really free.

As I walked along, I arrived at Copenhagen Central Station. The station was quite different from other European stations I’d visited before—here, it felt very dark, with not much lighting.

There wasn’t even a tripod, so I gave it my first try at capturing light trails.
My one-day trip to Copenhagen came to an end. On the second day of my journey, I set off for Malmö, Sweden’s third-largest city.
