Akershus Fortress

Introduction Akershus Fortress was built in 1300 by King Håkon V and the current structure was reconstructed in the early 17th century under King Christian IV. The fortress was designated as a cultural heritage site between 1905 and 1963. State banquets are held here when foreign dignitaries visit.
