Closest to the Northern Lights yet: a 64-meter-high sledding-shaped hotel where you can actually ski

Due to its natural climate conditions, Taiwan only experiences snow on its high mountains for a few days each winter, so travelers who want to ski usually have to fly abroad. The opposite is true in Nordic ski destinations—places covered in snow for at least three months every year. In the Norwegian capital of Oslo, this well-knownHolmenkollen Ski Jump resembles a giant sled. It's not only a pilgrimage spot for many skiing fans, but most uniquely, there's also a hotel at the top.

According to the UK’s Daily Mail, the Holmenkollen Ski Jump is the venue for international ski competitions. For skiers or general tourists alike, there's nothing better than being able to watch the events from a comfortable spot. This wild idea eventually came to life, as Norwegians designed a mixed-use apartment complex atop the ski jump, around 64 meters above ground, using approximately 100 tons of steel.

This year’s major skiing event, the “FIS World Cup Ski Jumping Competition,” will be held on March 14 and 15. Guests at this riverside city apartment can not only watch the competition but also enjoy views of the nearby fjords. At night, they can even admire the dancing green hues of the Northern Lights from the elevated vantage point.
