The average price of a club sandwich is NT$960 in Paris, which tops the list as the world’s most expensive travel destination!

Although prices in Taiwan are on the rise, do you know where in the world the most expensive club sandwich is sold? According to the Club Sandwich Index (CSI) survey by global online hotel booking website Hotels.com, a club sandwich at a five-star hotel in Paris, France, costs up to NT$1,572, making it the most expensive city in the world. Prices are more reasonable at two-star hotels, at around NT$644. However, on average, buying a club sandwich in Paris costs NT$960, still ranking as the most expensive city in the survey.

A club sandwich typically includes chicken, bacon, eggs, lettuce, and mayonnaise, and is available at hotels worldwide. The Club Sandwich Index tracks the average price of this common sandwich across various cities, giving travelers an idea of the local cost of living. Geneva, Switzerland, ranks second with an average club sandwich price of NT$945. Oslo, the capital of Norway, comes in third at NT$885. In Asia, Tokyo is the most expensive at NT$802, ranking fourth, while Hong Kong is ranked 11th at NT$533 and Seoul 12th at NT$524. In contrast, New York in the United States costs just NT$491, and Toronto in Canada NT$466.

The UK ranks ninth in the survey, with an average club sandwich price of less than NT$564, and the cheapest available for as little as NT$306. However, in Spain, a popular holiday destination for British travelers, you can buy a club sandwich for an average of NT$470. The survey shows that the most affordable city is New Delhi, the capital of India, with an average price of NT$278.
