National Theatre

Introduction: The National Theatre is the largest theatre in the country with a history of over a century.

In front of the theatre stand statues of two figures: on the left is playwright Henrik Ibsen (1828–1906), and on the right is national literature writer Bjørnstjerne Bjørnson (1832–1910). Although they were four years apart in age, they were rivals, and both of their works have been performed on the stage of the National Theatre. Visits require advance reservation.
