Ourense is a city located in the province of Ourense, within the autonomous community of Galicia, Spain. It serves as the capital of Ourense Province and is the third-largest city in the region. The city’s history dates back to Roman times, with Roman-era hot springs still visible today.

Ourense is a well-known wellness destination and one of the cities in Europe with a relatively high number of hot springs. One of them is located in the old town, connected to ancient Roman traditions, and is currently open to visitors. Ourense Cathedral is the city’s most iconic landmark. Originally built in 572 and reconstructed in the 13th century, it features a blend of Romanesque and Gothic architectural styles, making it the second oldest church in the Galicia Autonomous Community. The cathedral houses a cathedral museum, which displays the first printed book in Galicia from 1494, 13th-century enamels, and the oldest Christian tombstone in the region.
