Taipei's Ningxia Night Market Gains Fame in China’s Ningxia, Prompting Special Autonomous Region Image Store in Taiwan

Taipei’s Ningxia Night Market has become so popular across the strait that even the “authentic” Ningxia Autonomous Region is leveraging its name. The Ningxia Hui Autonomous Region Tourism Bureau has selected Ningxia Night Market to jointly run marketing activities. Shoppers at designated stalls can enter a lucky draw to win travel vouchers and receive special travel packages to Ningxia.

Famous both domestically and abroad, Taipei’s Ningxia Night Market has even caught the attention of the faraway Ningxia Autonomous Region in northwest China, which hopes to attract visitors by promoting “Eat in Ningxia, Travel in Ningxia.” On the 17th, Taipei City Department of Information and Tourism Director Zhao Xinping said at a press conference: “Ningxia Night Market has succeeded with its management and marketing strategies, achieving many firsts—such as creating Taiwan’s first banquet-style ‘Thousand-Year Banquet,’ pioneering a new style of street food, and being the first night market in Taiwan to label calorie counts on snacks. By the end of this year, English and Japanese labels will also be added.”

Regarding the Ningxia Hui Autonomous Region Tourism Bureau’s choice of Ningxia Night Market as a marketing partner, Zhao Xinping said that given the night market’s fame across Taiwan, it can certainly help boost the image of the Ningxia Autonomous Region and attract more tourists to visit.

In addition, the Ningxia Hui Autonomous Region Tourism Bureau has specially authorized Zhong’an Travel Agency to assist in establishing a “Ningxia Tourism Bureau Taiwan Image Store” in Taipei. This store will not only provide up-to-date tourism information about various scenic spots within the Ningxia Autonomous Region but also promote a variety of travel products for groups such as religious and archaeological tours. It will also help travel agencies and consumers arrange customized itineraries and flight packages within the Ningxia Autonomous Region, offering visitors a richer experience of the region’s unique ethnic culture.
