Pu'er Tea
Pu'er Tea is a protected geographical indication product.
Pu'er Tea is a certified geographical indication trademark.
Pu'er is a county in southern Yunnan Province and serves as a processing and distribution hub for tea; Pu'er tea is produced in the Xishuangbanna Autonomous Prefecture and various counties along the Lancang River in southern Yunnan. Much of it is transported and sold via Pu'er, which is how the tea got its name. As far back as the ancient Tea Horse Road period, Pu'er tea played an important role. Pu'er tea belongs to the green tea category and comes in both loose-leaf and compressed forms, all made from the fresh leaves of high-quality large-leaf Yunnan tea plants. The production process includes fixation, rolling, drying, and for compressed teas, the loose leaves are first steamed or pan-fried until soft, then packed into molds and pressed into various shapes such as tuocha, cake tea, square tea, and brick tea. It has enjoyed a prestigious reputation since ancient times. The "Daughter Tea" mentioned in *Dream of the Red Chamber* is one type of Pu'er tea. According to Qing Dynasty's Ruan Fu in *On Pu'er Tea*: "The small and round ones are called Daughter Tea, picked by women before the rainy season, specifically the four-liang round tea." What is "Seven Sons Cake Tea"? It refers to the large, round compressed tea cakes in Pu'er tea, traditionally packed seven to a bamboo tube, commonly known as "Seven Sons Cake Tea." It is renowned for its bright yellow liquor, rich and long-lasting aroma, mellow and refreshing taste.
Pu'er tea is rich in polyphenols, various trace elements, and vitamins. It helps quench thirst, relieve irritability and indigestion, improve eyesight, refresh the mind, warm the stomach, boost energy, aid digestion, dispel cold, and detoxify, making it highly beneficial to human health. Recent scientific research has shown that "Pu'er tea can aid in weight loss, reduce fat, improve fitness, strengthen the body, and help prevent certain chronic and difficult diseases." As a result, Pu'er tea enjoys a high reputation in overseas markets. Its main export destinations include the United States, Japan, Malaysia, Singapore, the United Kingdom, France, the Netherlands, Germany, and over fifty other countries as well as Hong Kong and Macau.
