LOS ANGELES, June 5, 2015 /PRNewswire/ -- Six explorers from China and the United States officially set off from the famous tourist city of Plymouth on the U.S. East Coast on June 3 local time. They will then embark on a cycling journey along the historic Route 66, America's first transcontinental highway established in 1926. The route will take them through 13 states including Illinois, Missouri, Kansas, Oklahoma, and New Mexico, ending on the West Coast in Los Angeles, California. This 5,900-kilometer journey is planned to be completed within 60 to 70 days.

Starting from the Birthplace of America

At 11:00 AM on June 3, the press conference and launch ceremony for the "Tufeng Travel 'Ride' the U.S. – 2015 Chinese Travelers’ 60-Day Cross-America Cycling Discovery Journey" was held in front of the Mayflower in Plymouth, known as the "Hometown of America." The event was jointly witnessed by Anna Liu, Americas Product Operations Manager of Tufeng Travel Network, the organizer of this public welfare cycling activity; Sharon Xu, representative of the Boston Tourism Bureau; Richard Pickering, Executive Director of Plimoth Plantation and the Mayflower; as well as influential local Chinese and American media. This extraordinary cycling team began its journey here.

Known as the Hometown of America, Plymouth is the birthplace of the American Revolutionary War. The Mayflower is Plymouth’s most famous attraction, symbolizing the beginning of the American spirit of covenant. The Mayflower Compact, created in 1620, was the first of its kind in American history, representing the people’s right to self-governance rather than being ruled by authoritarian power.

The Tufeng cycling team officially commenced their 60-day cross-country journey across the United States from the Mayflower in Plymouth.

The Tufeng Cycling Team Is Ready to Go, with Premium Gear on Full Display

This cross-America cycling expedition is led by renowned Chinese explorer Jin Feibao and celebrated geologist Fei Xuan, heading the Tufeng "Ride" the U.S. cycling team. Both the team composition and equipment are considered the most luxurious ever for a trans-American bicycle expedition: TREK all-terrain mountain bikes, VAUDE panniers, TOPEAK tools, ONE POLAR cycling apparel, and more. These high-quality gears will support the team members throughout their over two-month, 5,900-kilometer journey. Jin Feibao, the famous Chinese explorer who once completed the "7+2" expedition — reaching the world’s seven summits and both poles in record time — remarked, "This activity is a journey to explore American history and culture, a challenging cycling feat, and also a people-to-people diplomatic effort to promote friendship between the Chinese and American people. I’m very grateful for the full support of Tufeng Travel Network, which provided us with top-notch team gear and logistical support. I hope more people will pay attention to this event, and I look forward to seeing many American friends waiting for us at the finish line in Los Angeles."
