The Shanxi Science and Technology Museum is a base for science popularization education.

The Shanxi Provincial Science and Technology Museum was completed in February 1988. It serves as a public venue for science and technology activities, functioning as a public science education facility that supports the strategy of revitalizing the country through science and technology, promotes scientific knowledge, and reflects contemporary technological and economic development. The museum covers an area of 32 mu, with a total construction area of over 10,000 square meters. Within its 2,700 m² exhibition space, the "Exploration Hall" and "Aquarium" are open to the public year-round. The museum also regularly hosts various science exhibitions and achievements displays, as well as organizes touring exhibitions across the province. The Science Training Center offers year-round training courses in computer skills, vocational skills, and children's cultural education. The museum also features a science cinema, an audiovisual studio, and a library.

The Shanxi Provincial Science and Technology Museum is a public welfare facility dedicated to science popularization education. Its responsibilities include organizing science exhibitions, conducting science training, facilitating academic exchanges, hosting science lectures, and carrying out various science education activities. Science exhibitions are divided into permanent exhibitions, temporary exhibitions, and touring exhibitions. The permanent science exhibition halls include the "Exploration of Scientific Mysteries" exhibition and the Children’s Science Playground, which are open to the public year-round. The temporary thematic science exhibition hall can accommodate large-scale themed exhibitions, while the touring science exhibitions are brought to rural areas, factories, mines, military camps, and other locations every year.

Science training is divided into children’s training and computer training, with year-round classes offered in children’s painting, art, music, computers, and other subjects.

The Sunday Knowledge Lecture is a public forum aimed at disseminating scientific knowledge and promoting science awareness. It is held regularly at 9:00 AM every Sunday in the museum’s lecture hall. In January 2007, the construction of the Shanxi Provincial Science and Technology Museum was approved by the Shanxi Provincial Government.
