A new way to enjoy autumn foliage in Taipei！ The maple leaves in Jing Shan Community are gradually turning red. The Public Works Department of the Taipei City Government's Bureau of Urban Development announced that visitors can start from the bike station at Lane 71, Section 3, Zhishan Road, Shilin District, then head toward Lane 131, Jing Shan Road, and all the way to the end of Yonggu Road to reach Jing Shan Community, where they can admire the valleys painted red by the maple leaves.

He Shengnan, the head of Jing Shan Li in Shilin District, said,The maple tree variety in Jing Shan area is commonly known as “red-leaf chicken claw maple.”It is grafted from the branches and buds of Japanese maples onto the trunks of Taiwan’s native green maples. The maple leaves have 5 to 7 lobes and turn red twice a year, in April and December, attracting many visitors.

Besides enjoying the maple leaves, Huang Liyuan, head of the Bureau of Urban Development, mentioned that the Shilin District’s Xishan Community and Jing Shan Community are rich in natural resources, surrounded by numerous attractions including the Nei-Shuangxi Nature Center Forest Park, ancient irrigation channels, bike stations, and cherry blossom viewing platforms. On regular days, many cyclists leisurely ride through the woods. The area features six popular biking routes, all starting from the National Palace Museum. Heading along Section 2 of Zhishan Road, you can reach various destinations such as the bus terminal at the end of Zhongshe Road, Lengshuikeng Visitor Center, Fengguikou, Saints Falls, Baishi Lake Suspension Bridge, and the pavilion at the top of Jiannan Road.
