EVA Air has made a major investment in purchasing 24 Boeing 787 aircraft and 2 Boeing 777-300ER jets, scheduled to be introduced to Taiwan in July 2018！ The Boeing 787-10 Dreamliner emphasizes fuel efficiency, accommodating up to 330 passengers. It also highlights cabin comfort, with significantly improved air quality and humidity, reduced noise levels, and effective cabin pressure control—all of which help alleviate common travel issues such as airsickness and discomfort.

The Boeing 787 model extensively uses lightweight composite materials such as carbon fiber, applied to the fuselage, wings, and engine blades—making up over 50% of the total weight. This greatly reduces the aircraft's overall weight. Coupled with the latest GEnx engines produced by GE, the aircraft consumes 20% less fuel and emits fewer greenhouse gases compared to older models, thereby enhancing EVA Air’s operational efficiency.

In terms of cabin comfort, the Boeing 787 Dreamliner incorporates state-of-the-art air filtration systems and upgraded air compressors, improving air purity and humidity inside the cabin. Noise levels are also 60% lower than those of similar aircraft types. The extensive use of composite materials allows the 787 to effectively manage cabin pressure, which helps improve blood oxygen levels for passengers and reduce common discomforts such as airsickness—delivering a more comfortable flying experience.

Additionally, the Boeing 787 features a spacious cabin where passengers enjoy more headroom. Every seat is a window seat, with windows that are 78% larger than those on the A330, and passengers can freely adjust the window brightness.

Following this procurement by EVA Air, the 26 new aircraft are expected to begin delivery starting in 2017, with all scheduled for completion by 2022. The first flights could begin as early as July 2018. After delivery, the 787s will be deployed on medium- and long-haul routes to increase flight frequency and gradually phase out older aircraft models. They will join the 777-300ER as key aircraft in EVA Air’s main fleet.
