The Museum of Asian Art is located in the Steglitz-Zehlendorf district of Berlin. Established in 1906, it is one of the largest museums of Asian art in the world, housing a diverse collection of artworks from South, Southeast, and Central Asia dating from 4000 BCE to the present day — truly a paradise for Asian art.

The Museum of Asian Art is the second non-European cultural museum established during the German Empire. Its collection of Asian art includes over 20,000 items originating from countries such as India, Pakistan, Afghanistan, Sri Lanka, Bangladesh, Nepal, Myanmar, Cambodia, Vietnam, China, Japan, and Korea. The current collection mainly focuses on China, Japan, and Korea, totaling 12,000 pieces. Among these, there are over 2,000 Chinese artifacts, covering nearly all periods of Chinese cultural history and encompassing various categories of artistic craftsmanship: Neolithic pottery, jade artifacts from the Liangzhu period, Shang and Zhou dynasty bronzes, Han dynasty bronze mirrors, Tang dynasty tri-colored pottery, paintings and calligraphy by Shen Zhou and Tang Yin from the Ming dynasty, blue-and-white porcelain from the Qing dynasty, as well as works by renowned modern painters.

The Chinese exhibits in the Museum of Asian Art showcase some of the finest examples of Chinese cultural relics. These artifacts serve both as cultural emissaries from China and as daughters of Chinese culture who have married into the broader human civilization.
