Following the tragic helicopter crash on June 10 that claimed the life of “Beyond Beauty: Taiwan from Above” director YIWEI LIN, the “See YIWEI LIN” exhibition offers a space for those wanting to pay tribute, reflect, and gain a deeper understanding of Taiwan’s scenery. YIWEI LIN was a renowned aerial photographer from Taiwan. His documentary “Beyond Beauty: Taiwan from Above” moved millions. Tragically, he died in a helicopter accident while preparing for the sequel. YIWEI LIN symbolized the eyes of Taiwan, revealing the island’s beauty and sorrow from unique heights. To honor his dedication to Taiwan, Abo Film specially curated the “See YIWEI LIN” exhibition for the public to mourn him, learn more about the director, and the Taiwan he cherished deeply.

The “See YIWEI LIN” exhibition is presented in the first person. First, the “Dreams Take Flight” zone features a selection of his works, showcasing his aerial photography aesthetics and taking us on a bird’s-eye journey to discover the beauty of Taiwan’s landscapes.
YIWEI LIN worked in aerial photography for 25 years, flew over 2,500 hours, and captured 300,000 images. In the “Cloud Work” zone, the extreme risks of aerial work—and that it cannot be done alone—are highlighted. The assistant who died in the crash, GUANQI, left behind one final image of Hualien’s landscape for us to remember. Aerial photography is full of danger. Through technology, YIWEI LIN’s presence is brought back to life, showing Taiwan from a different perspective.
Taiwan looks different from various altitudes—there is beauty, and there is sorrow. The third zone, “See Taiwan,” screens the trailer for the second installment he was planning. His ambitious vision was left unfulfilled, and his unfinished wishes are ones we must continue. His urgency is hidden within the “Invisible Taiwan” darkroom. Taiwan’s land holds both beauty and scars, and how to protect and cherish Taiwan has always been his greatest motivation. We hope his legacy will continue to inspire Taiwan.

There is only one YIWEI LIN. Though he has passed, “the origin never fades.” In this zone, family and friends who didn’t get to say goodbye mourn him in various ways. Uniting everyone's strength, the exhibit spreads positive energy about Taiwan. Here, we see the rich cultural tapestry of Taiwan that he treasured. Taiwan is the most beautiful scenery on Earth.
