One of the world’s largest and most renowned light art festivals, the 2013 “Festival of Lights Berlin,” kicked off locally on October 9 and ran through the 20th, turning nighttime Berlin into a spectacular light art exhibition.

Since 2004, the “Festival of Lights Berlin” has been held annually for one to two weeks every October, gathering light artists from around the globe to present colorful lighting designs and projections. During the festival, after nightfall, various visual light art effects are displayed at Berlin’s famous landmarks, cultural monuments, historic buildings, and streets. Its unique festive atmosphere has made it a global focal point and a major stage that attracts visual art creators from all fields to innovate and experiment each year.

Throughout the duration of the “Berlin Festival of Lights,” the organizers not only ensure that light art is everywhere but also collaborate with other organizations to arrange various celebratory events. These include a “light-viewing” bus tour offering nighttime light art guides, as well as the “Streetlight Jogging” event, which is best enjoyed under dazzling lights, inviting everyone to discover Berlin’s alternative charm after dark.
