Scoot launches flights to Berlin – The long-awaited long-haul destination, Berlin, Germany, is set to commence flights on June 20, 2018, with promotional sales officially launching on January 10, 2018. Scoot, the low-cost carrier under the Singapore Airlines Group (SIA), has been named the Best Low-Cost Airline in Asia Pacific for four consecutive years. Berlin is Scoot’s third long-haul destination following Athens and Hawaii.
Scoot’s Berlin promotion sale offers one-way fares from Taipei (via Singapore) to Berlin starting from NT$9,999 (inclusive of taxes but excluding baggage and meals), while ScootBiz business class one-way fares start from NT$28,799. Ticket availability and confirmation apply. The promotion runs from January 10 to January 31, 2018, for travel between June 20 and October 26, 2018.
The Singapore–Berlin route will be operated by the twin-aisle wide-body Boeing 787 Dreamliner, with four weekly flights (subject to final regulatory approval). Singapore Airlines currently operates flights to Düsseldorf, Frankfurt, and Munich in Germany; with the addition of Scoot's Berlin service, Berlin becomes the fourth German destination in the Singapore Airlines Group network.
The Boeing 787 Dreamliner is known for its spacious cabins and advanced technology, offering a more comfortable flying experience, including cabin humidity control and pressurization, adjustable LCD window shades, 20% less cabin noise, and ample overhead bin space. Scoot’s 787 Dreamliners also feature long-haul amenities such as in-flight WiFi, seat charging ports, and the ScooTV in-flight entertainment system that can be streamed to personal devices.
Passengers may also opt for “ScootBiz,” enjoying full leather seats with at least 38 inches (96 cm) of pitch, 30 kg checked baggage allowance, and a premium meal package (including meals and beverages). Alternatively, travelers can choose the “ScootSilent Zone” for a quieter journey and a seat pitch of 31 to 35 inches (approximately 78–89 cm).
Scoot’s Chief Executive Officer, Lee Lik Hsin, said: “Scoot’s low-cost long-haul operation model officially began six months ago with the launch of our services to Athens and Hawaii. Both destinations have met our expectations and received positive feedback from passengers regarding the Boeing 787 Dreamliner. Operating long-haul routes with the Boeing 787 Dreamliner is a key reason why our passengers are willing to choose a low-cost airline for long journeys. With the launch of Berlin, we continue our mission to provide more affordable long-haul options and deliver the exceptional Scoot experience.”
Scoot’s current network covers 63 destinations across 17 countries, with Kuantan, Malaysia, set to launch its inaugural flight in February 2018. The Scoot fleet includes 16 Boeing 787 Dreamliners and 24 Airbus A320s, with an additional 4 Boeing 787 Dreamliners and 39 Airbus A320neos on order.
