The Teresa Carreño Theatre is situated in the cultural center district of Caracas, the capital of Venezuela, with beautiful surroundings and easy access. Named after the nation’s renowned pianist Teresa Carreño (Teresa Carreño), its construction began in 1973, took ten years to complete, and cost 540 million bolívares. It was officially inaugurated on April 19, 1983. Covering an area of 22,586 square meters, the Teresa Carreño Theatre is the second-largest theatre in South America, after the Teatro Colón in Buenos Aires, Argentina.

The Teresa Carreño Theatre features a uniquely novel and elegant exterior design, along with refined interior decoration, making it one of the most modern performing arts centers in Latin America. The theatre complex includes the La Rios Reyna Opera House and the Jose Felix Ribas semi-circular indoor concert hall, as well as cultural facilities such as a bookstore and shops for stage arts and audiovisual artworks. Equipped with advanced sound systems and simultaneous interpretation facilities, the theatre hosts a variety of performances including symphonies, pop music, operas, plays, and ballets. It serves as Venezuela’s most important performing arts venue. Chinese performance troupes such as the Nanjing Acrobatic Troupe and the Zhejiang Wu Opera Troupe have performed here to great acclaim from Venezuelan audiences.
