Tired of sightseeing only at ground level? More and more people are now combining travel with pushing their personal limits. In Switzerland, some choose to climb a 540-foot (approximately 167-meter) dam as a way to explore. In London, others hang one-handed from scaffolding over 500 feet high like they’re on a pull-up bar, taking in the city views. And if that’s not thrilling enough, there’s also the adventure of sleeping on a cliff in Venezuela — all experiences that daredevils are welcome to try.

Switzerland’s Luzzone Dam (Diga di Luzzone) is home to the world’s tallest artificial vertical climbing wall. To tackle this wall, climbers follow five steps: first, they ascend a specially designed ladder to reach the first grip, about 6 meters above the ground — marking the official start of the climb. The most thrilling part comes in the third section, where climbers must shift their hands roughly 3 meters to the left to continue upward, depending on the terrain — a true test of bravery.
Meanwhile, in London, UK, someone was spotted hanging one-handed from 500-foot-high (approximately 155-meter) scaffolding like it’s a pull-up bar. Not only that, he filmed his stunt, and just watching the view beneath his feet is enough to make most people’s knees weak. This daredevil, named Kingston, also plans to keep tackling ever higher scaffolds, with a lifelong goal of climbing the Burj Khalifa.

In Venezuela, people are also traveling this way — and saving on accommodation. What’s it like to sleep on a 1,300-foot (about 400-meter) cliff? Probably only 24-year-old McCord knows. He slept atop Venezuela’s famous Acopan Tepui cliff and said, “It was a bit nerve-wracking at first, but you get used to it. And honestly, the ‘bed’ wasn’t too bad.”
