The Museum of Modern Art Jesús Soto is located in the important Venezuelan city of Puerto Ordaz in the eastern part of the country. It was established in August 1973. The museum was first proposed by Jesús Soto in the 1950s, but it wasn’t until October 1969 that the Bolívar State government finally passed the resolution and construction began that same year.

The Museum of Modern Art is named after its earliest proponent—Jesús Soto. His full name is Jesús Rafael Soto. Born in Bolívar, he was a world-renowned kinetic artist, sculptor, and painter. Starting from the 1970s, his works have been exhibited in globally recognized museums such as the Guggenheim Museum in New York and the Centre Georges Pompidou in Paris.

The Museum of Modern Art Jesús Soto primarily showcases art works related to movement and kinetics, featuring an extensive collection of works by Soto and other internationally renowned artists in related fields.
