Barquisimeto

Barquisimeto is located in a valley in northwestern Venezuela and is the capital of Lara State. It is an important industrial, commercial, and transportation hub in Venezuela, as well as the country's fourth-largest city. The city was founded in 1552 and has developed over the years to become one of Venezuela’s most attractive cities.

There are not many tourist destinations in Barquisimeto, but they are well worth visiting. The most famous is the obelisk, built to commemorate the 400th anniversary of the city’s founding. Completed in 1952, it stands 75 meters tall and is a magnificent sight. The Barquisimeto Museum, with a history dating back to 1579, mainly showcases the city’s history, culture, and customs.
