Barbados Wildlife Reserve

The Barbados Wildlife Reserve was established in 1985, located near Farley Hill, covering an area of 4 acres. It was founded by Canadian primatologist Jean Baulu and his wife, who came to the site in 1982 to research and protect the green monkeys inhabiting the area.

As the green monkey population continued to thrive in the region, the site was designated as a wildlife reserve in 1985. In addition to the lively and playful green monkeys roaming freely, the reserve is also home to many other animals, including red-furred brocket deer, red-footed tortoises, white-tailed deer, agoutis, caimans, rabbit-sized rodents called agoutis, iguanas, peacocks, and more. Some of these animals can be approached up close, and children are sure to enjoy observing these adorable creatures.
