Recently, CAMEL Camel collaborated with representatives from Alibaba’s One Foundation and others in the “Winter Warmth Package Distribution” action, delivering warmth and love to the Ya’an earthquake zone during the cold season. Following the Ya’an earthquake in April this year, CAMEL Camel responded immediately by dispatching representatives to deliver disaster relief supplies worth one million yuan to the affected area. As a follow-up to the Ya’an earthquake relief efforts, Camel Camel sent volunteers to join Alibaba employee volunteers and One Foundation staff in visiting Ya’an, going into local primary and secondary schools to provide students with winter clothing and school supplies to help them stay warm, sending love and warmth during the cold months, and offering encouragement and confidence to those still in the process of recovery and reconstruction.
On the day of the event, volunteers from Alibaba and CAMEL Camel, together with One Foundation staff, visited several local primary and secondary schools. Entering classrooms, the volunteers shared their insights on work and life, encouraging the schoolchildren to live and study with positivity and optimism. In the classrooms, the volunteers also played fun games with the students and taught them how to draw simple cartoon characters. At the same time, the volunteers distributed warmth packages to the students, which included cotton-padded coats, cotton shoes, scarves, gloves, and some school supplies. One volunteer said, “Seeing the happy smiles on the students’ faces made us all feel warm inside.”
During this public welfare visit, CAMEL Camel volunteers discovered that the “Loving Laundry Room and Large Solar Heating Bathroom” public welfare project, initiated by the Alibaba Public Welfare Fund, has now seen many laundry rooms and hot water supply bathrooms put into use, greatly improving the washing and bathing conditions for local students during winter. Meanwhile, the volunteers promoted daily health and hygiene knowledge among the students, encouraging them to develop healthy and hygienic living habits.
This public welfare revisit allowed the volunteers to once again witness the resilience of the people of Ya’an, their firm determination to rebuild their homes and restore production and daily life, as well as the concern and silent dedication of many businesses, groups, and individuals in society who are watching over the situation. Just as the spirit of One Foundation’s public welfare efforts convey: when everyone gives a little love, the world will have more warm moments.
