The history of Samuels Plantation dates back 300 years and was established by Chapman, one of the earliest colonists to arrive in Barbados. Chapman continuously expanded the plantation's area, increasing its scale over time. The Samuels Plantation consists of a mansion and museum built from flint and other stones imported from England. It was once burned down and has undergone two restorations. It is the only mansion on the island of Barbados where all rooms are open to visitors.
