Taiyuan Changchun Temple

The Changchun Temple in Taiyuan was originally built during the Yuan Dynasty, commonly known as Shangting Temple, and has a history of over 800 years. It was constructed by Song Defang, also known as Pi Yunzi, the fifth disciple of Qiu Chuji and a renowned Taoist priest. He also rebuilt the Longshan Haotian Temple and expanded the Taoist grottoes on Longshan Mountain. Currently, the Changchun Temple in Taiyuan is a municipal-level cultural heritage site.

The Changchun Temple in Nanchengjiao Village, Jinyuan District, Taiyuan, is located southwest of Jinyuan Subdistrict, adjacent to the Jinyuan New Area (the government of Jinyuan District). To the east is the New Jin Temple Road, and to the west is the Old Jin Temple Road. The area enjoys convenient transportation and a prime location. Inside the temple are ancient pine and cypress trees over 1,800 years old, as well as inscribed stelae from various dynasties documenting past renovations.

In the new century, under the leadership of the Party, Wang Luoji, the 66th-generation disciple of the Zhengyi Sect and Taoist ancestral court (formerly the Vice President of the Shanxi Taoist Association), dedicated himself wholeheartedly, meticulously planned, and worked tirelessly to bring Changchun Temple back to prominence within the Taoist community. Throughout history, eminent Taoists of every generation have made immeasurable and outstanding contributions to the Taoist cause, serving as role models for us, their disciples.

The current abbot of Taiyuan Changchun Temple is Wang Sanxiu, a female Taoist disciple and successor of Wang Luoji. The former head is Zhang Luoqiao, also a female Taoist disciple. The senior master is Qin Sangang.

500 meters west of Kangzhuang Ecological Park on Xinjin Temple Road, or turn left onto Gucheng Road 300 meters along Laojin Temple Road on Longshan Street, then head south to Changchun Temple in Nanchengjiao Village.
