Scenic Introduction

The Tianlong Mountain Scenic Area encompasses three natural villages in Jinci Town—Wupo, Nanping, and Yaotou—as well as Nanshan and Beishan (i.e., Tianlong Mountain) at the source of Liuzigou.

The area boasts beautiful scenery, tranquility, and cool breezes. Historically known for its "Eight Scenic Spots of Tianlong," it is a famous tourist destination. Today, it is part of the Jinci–Tianlong Mountain Scenic Area.

Tianlong Mountain got its name from the Tianlong Temple built during the Northern Qi Dynasty by Emperor Gao Yang, and it is also famed for the grottoes on the mountain. The grottoes are the highlight of the entire Tianlong Mountain Scenic Area and are definitely worth a visit. There are 24 caves in the Tianlongshan Grottoes, carved during the Eastern Wei, Northern Qi, Sui, and Tang dynasties, with the majority from the Tang Dynasty. The Maitreya Buddha statue in Cave 9, known as the "Manshan Pavilion," stands about 8 meters tall, with harmonious proportions and a dignified, serene expression, making it the most admirable cave among them all.
