The Site of the Jinyangbao Massacre is a cultural tourism attraction.

The Site of the Jinyangbao Massacre is located northwest of Jinyangbao Village, Jinyuan Subdistrict Office, Jinyuan District, covering an area of about 2,000 square meters. On November 8, 1937, the day Taiyuan fell, over 70 soldiers of the Shanxi-Suiyuan Army who were defending the city retreated near Jinyangbao Village after encountering Japanese forces. Outgunned, they fell back to Longtian Temple in the northwest of the village, where they were surrounded and disarmed by the Japanese army before being machine-gunned to death.

In the afternoon of the same day, the Japanese army cordoned off Jinyangbao Village tightly and carried out a horrific manhunt and massacre. At the threshing ground in the east of the village, they killed seven unarmed villagers—Song FuKui, Hao Bianxi, Song Sikui, Guo Erhuo, and others. Then, under the pretext of harboring anti-Japanese troops, they captured 26 local men who were at home, marched them to the field near the west end of the village, pressed bayonets against their chests, and murdered 22 villagers including Song Manzhi and Hao Jinquan. By evening, the Japanese set the entire village on fire, burning doors, stools, furniture, and other belongings. After the massacre, the village was left with few able-bodied men; 14 women were widowed, and 10 families were completely wiped out. In the 1980s, the villagers erected a memorial stele here. In November 2009, the Jinyangbao Village Party Branch rebuilt the Jinyangbao Massacre Memorial Monument.
