Mueang Boran Ancient City is located in Samut Prakan Province, about 30 kilometers from Bangkok. It is a theme park featuring miniature replicas of Thailand’s famous historical sites and landmarks, and is the world’s largest open-air museum. The park is shaped like the geography of Thailand and contains replicas of 75 of the country’s most famous temples, stupas, monuments, and other structures, as well as small markets built on lakes, consisting of stilted wooden houses. These replicas are arranged according to their original “geographical locations,” and some even depict ancient Thai sites that no longer exist. Thanks to the research of archaeologists and the craftsmanship of artists, they have been meticulously recreated to reflect their historical authenticity. In addition, the park features traditional Thai residential architecture, highland ethnic village scenes, and a sculpture park themed around the story of Ramakien. The ancient city also includes several rural and market dioramas, where women in traditional costumes weave cloth, make umbrellas, and craft small souvenirs in farmhouses, while men engage in farming activities and coconut harvesting in the fields—offering a glimpse into the life and culture of Thai villages and towns.
