Chitralada Palace

Introduction

Chitralada Palace is the residence of the current Thai King Bhumibol and his family. The palace is surrounded by a moat, and soldiers patrol and stand guard outside the walls. Within the square-shaped palace grounds, which measure 800 meters on each side, there are three-story residences, courtyards, rice paddies, dry fields, pastures, and more. Elephants are also kept here. It is said that the palace even has a research facility exclusively for the king’s use. However, visitors are not allowed to enter the premises; they can only view the exterior.
