The Snake Farm (also known as the Snake Institute) was originally the Pasteur Institute, located on Rama IV Road. It is one of only two venomous snake research institutes in the world and is also known as the "Snake Hospital." It is unique in Southeast Asia and renowned for its research on venomous snakes. Staff collect venomous snakes, extract their venom to produce antivenom, and treat patients bitten by venomous snakes. Thailand is known as a treasure trove of venomous snakes, with a vast variety of species. The institute’s venomous snake farm houses a large number of live venomous snakes. Thousands of them are categorized and kept in well-equipped glass enclosures. Dozens of species, including cobras, vipers, red racers, golden ring snakes, and silver ring snakes, can be seen either coiled up sleeping or resting on the ground, or perched on trees, surveying their surroundings with ease.
