The world’s largest golden teak structure, the entire palace was built without using a single nail. The interior is in a purely 19th-century European style, showcasing the determination of the Thai royal family to learn from the West in order to strengthen the nation. Introduction

Also known as the Vimanmek Mansion, it served as the everyday residence of King Rama V (Chulalongkorn). After his passing, the palace was no longer used until 1983, when it was opened to the public by order of the current Queen of Thailand on the occasion of the 200th anniversary of Bangkok. The three-story palace is entirely constructed of teak wood, blending Western-style architecture with traditional Thai design. It was designed by Prince Narisara Nuvadtivongs, the son of King Rama IV. Inside the palace, there is a museum displaying tableware and household items from around the world, with a total of 31 exhibition rooms open to the public. Bedrooms, bathrooms, and other areas have been preserved in their original condition.
