Boats used by the King and other members of the Thai royal family.     Introduction

The Royal Barge is a place where small boats used by the King of Thailand and vessels used by the royal family are kept. The King’s barge is about 50 meters long and is operated by around 50 oarsmen. The boat is made of wood and decorated with gold leaf carvings, making it extremely magnificent. On the night of the full moon in late October or early November, visitors can see the colorfully decorated Royal Barges gliding quietly along the river. The Thai royal family builds a new royal yacht every year for the royal family to cruise along the Chao Phraya River. The yacht is exquisitely carved, with the bow resembling the neck of a golden swan holding a pendant in its mouth, while the stern looks like a large serpent floating on the water.
