The Robot Building (Robot Building) is an office building of the Asian Bank located in Bangkok, the capital of Thailand. It was completed in 1986. From the outside, the building looks like a giant robot with a shiny metallic finish, complete with a pair of round, large eyes, and there are also rows of “big bolts” on either side of its “body.” The exterior gives off a metallic sheen that instantly brings to mind Transformers. On top of the building, two lightning rods stand upright like a robot’s antennas.

The Robot Building is an iconic structure in Thailand. Due to its distinctive design, it has become a remarkable masterpiece in the field of architecture and has been listed by the Museum of Contemporary Art, Los Angeles, as one of the world’s 50 most artistic buildings. It has also been ranked as the most unique building in the world by online polls. Initially, the Asian Bank hoped that this building would embody futuristic ideals and herald a new era of computerized banking management. In the end, they got a building shaped like a robot, which people have dubbed with various names such as "user-friendly" and "21st century." In 2005, the Asian Bank was acquired by United Overseas Bank.

The designer of this building is named Sumet Jumsai. It is said that his design inspiration came from his son’s robot toy. When designing the Robot Building, Sumet stated that the building should reflect a human-centered philosophy. As a result, the restaurant in this building, unlike those in other office buildings, is not located underground but on a high floor with a great view.
