Dusit Zoo is located in Dusit District, Bangkok, the capital of Thailand. Opened in 1954, it covers an area of 47 acres and is the oldest and most popular zoo in Thailand. The zoo is home to over 1,600 animals from both domestic and international origins, creating a veritable animal kingdom. It attracts approximately 2.5 million visitors each year to explore this fascinating world of wildlife.

Originally the private garden of King Rama V of Thailand, the site was donated by the king in 1938 and converted into a zoo. Dusit Zoo integrates education, research, and wildlife conservation, achieving remarkable success in animal breeding and care. It houses over 1,600 mammals, birds, and amphibians. The zoo is home to Thailand’s only barking deer and is recognized as one of the best zoos in the world for gibbons. One of the most interesting features is the opportunity to observe nocturnal wildlife such as bats, binturongs, and brush-tailed porcupines, all living comfortably in their naturalistic environments.
