Vimanmek Palace, also known as the Summer Palace of King Rama V, is located in Bangkok, the capital of Thailand, near Dusit Zoo. It was built in 1901 by King Rama V and served as the royal residence for former Kings Rama V and Rama VI. The palace is classical and elegant, set within a tranquil and poetic environment that captivates visitors.

Constructed mainly from teakwood, Vimanmek Palace is renowned as the world’s largest golden teak building. It blends Western and traditional Thai architectural styles and features numerous exquisitely carved details. Its most remarkable characteristic is that it was built without using a single nail, with all parts ingeniously joined together. Thanks to its teak construction, the interior remains pleasantly cool even during the scorching summer months, making it very comfortable to live in. The palace has 72 rooms, all decorated in 19th-century European style and exceptionally luxurious and magnificent.

Since 1982, Vimanmek Palace has served as a museum displaying photographs of King Rama V, his personal artworks, handicrafts, and Thailand’s cultural heritage. In addition, tableware and household items from around the world are also exhibited in the palace.
