The Seogwipo World Cup Stadium, which hosted matches during the 2002 FIFA World Cup, is located on Jeju Island, renowned for its stunning natural scenery. The stadium’s exterior reflects Jeju’s unique Oreum (small dormant volcanoes that resemble hills when viewed from afar) and volcanic crater landscapes, while its roof is designed to resemble traditional Jeju fishing nets. Additionally, considering Jeju’s terrain and climate, the track inside the stadium is situated 14 meters below ground level to shield it from strong winds. Jeju, where the stadium is located, is one of South Korea’s most famous tourist destinations, boasting numerous attractions such as Hallasan Mountain and Jungmun Saekdal Beach.
