Located in Guchon-ri, Seongsan-eup, Seogwipo City, Jeju Island — a place of stunning natural beauty — Aqua Planet opened to the public in July 2012. It aims to showcase various marine ecosystems commonly encountered in daily life, promote the "value of ocean culture," and raise public awareness about the theme of "ecosystem preservation."

Covering an area of more than 93,000 square meters with two underground levels and two above-ground levels, Aqua Planet is the largest aquarium in Asia. It consists of four main zones: the aquarium, Ocean Arena, Marine Science, and the central area, with a total water volume of 10,800 tons and approximately 50,000 marine creatures on display. The aquarium boasts a diverse range of species, including whale sharks and manta rays — both making their first appearances in Korea — as well as six dolphins, large sharks, and over 500 species totaling 48,000 fish, such as 10,000 damselfish.

The first floor of Aqua Planet is themed “The Magnificent Encounter of Ocean and Jungle.” Visitors can enjoy a three-dimensional view of aquatic life such as seals and penguins. The area is richly filled with trees and forests, truly delivering an “ocean adventure” that gives visitors the sensation of exploring a tropical rainforest. The second floor recreates “The Seas of Jeju and the Five Oceans,” featuring the Arctic Ocean, Atlantic Ocean, Pacific Ocean, Indian Ocean, and Antarctic Ocean, each showcasing representative marine life from these regions.
