Mount Daido is a mountain range located about 5 kilometers west of the city center of Tochigi in Tochigi Prefecture, Japan, with an elevation of 345 meters. Stretching from Tochigi City all the way to Daido Town, the area boasts abundant natural resources, fresh air, and beautiful scenery, making it an excellent destination for outdoor activities and relaxation. Moreover, the eastern foothills of the mountain are planted with around 3,000 cherry blossom trees, making it a popular cherry blossom viewing spot in spring when the flowers are in full bloom.

Near the summit of Mount Daido, there is an observation platform called Kenshindaira as well as Ohirasan Shrine, which was built in 827. From Kenshindaira, visitors can enjoy panoramic views of the entire Kanto Plain, scattered hills, and various other landscapes — a truly spectacular sight, earning it the nickname “Matsushima of the Land.” Ohirasan Shrine is a shrine dedicated to the worship of Japanese warriors, especially since the time of Tokugawa Iemitsu, the third Tokugawa shogun (1604–1651), nearly every generation of shoguns has visited the shrine to offer prayers.
