Kinugawa Onsen Festival in Nikko & Free Hot Springs at 11 Hotels

To welcome international tourists, the city of Nikko in northwestern Tochigi Prefecture, Japan, will hold the “Kinugawa Onsen Festival” from February 6 to February 29, 2016. Participating hotels will offer special New Year cuisine and free hot spring bathing services, and guests staying overnight will also receive special gifts.

Kinugawa Onsen, part of Nikko National Park, has a history of over 300 years and is one of the most representative hot spring resort destinations in the Kanto region of Japan. During the “Kinugawa Onsen Festival,” visitors can enjoy free hot spring bathing at participating hotels. A foreign tourist service desk offering Chinese and English travel information will be set up at Kinugawa Onsen Station, and free one-day bus passes for the Kinugawa Onsen area will be distributed to foreign tourists from February 8 to 14. Hotels will also provide free shuttle buses.

In addition, this year’s Kinugawa “New Year Festival” will take place on February 13 and 14 from 10:30 AM to 2:30 PM. There will be exciting stage performances at the plaza in front of Kinugawa Onsen Station, along with sales of Nikko/Kinugawa souvenirs and a free rickshaw riding experience. Visitors can wear kimono to enjoy the festive atmosphere of Japanese New Year (1,500 yen per person).
