Shiobara Onsen Village refers to the collective name for 11 hot springs distributed along the valley of the Hoki River in northern Tochigi Prefecture, namely Ogawa Onsen, Fukudo Onsen, Shioyu Onsen, Shionuma Onsen, Hatasue Onsen, Monzen Onsen, Furumachi Onsen, Naka-Shiobara Onsen, Kami-Shiobara Onsen, Shinyu Onsen, and Motoyu Onsen, and is therefore also widely known as the “Eleven Hot Springs of Shiobara.”

Each hot spring in Shiobara Onsen Village has a different water quality, offering a variety of therapeutic benefits. The area features Japan’s largest footbath facility, “Yuppo-no-Sato,” where visitors can easily enjoy a relaxing soak. The scenery in the onsen village is also stunning, including over 100 waterfalls such as the three-tiered “Ryuka Falls” that cascades down between rocks, as well as 12 unique suspension bridges like Japan’s longest pedestrian suspension bridge on Honshu, the Momijidani Bridge, and the Mikaeri Bridge. There are also dedicated walking trails and related facilities. Visitors can take a stroll through the beautiful valleys nearby to enjoy the changing scenery of the four seasons after soaking in the hot springs, allowing both body and mind to fully unwind.
