Nasu Onsen refers to a hot spring resort located in Nasu Town, Nasu District, Tochigi Prefecture, in the Kanto region of Japan. It features seven types of springs with varying water qualities and therapeutic effects. In the past, the Nasu Onsen area was only a small section centered around the public bathhouse “Kan-no-yu,” but in recent years, high-end hotels and large-scale leisure resorts have been built, along with other related facilities, making it a comprehensive tourism and hot spring destination in Nasu that combines sightseeing, hot spring bathing, and lodging.

There are many beautiful myths and legends about Nasu Onsen. One of the most famous tells of a beautiful deer that was injured by a hunter. After soaking in the waters of Nasu Onsen several times, it recovered, and since then, “Kan-no-yu” (meaning one type of hot spring in Nasu) has become widely known among locals. The hot springs at Nasu are mainly simple hot springs, iron springs, acidic springs, and sulfur springs, and they are believed to have certain auxiliary therapeutic effects on conditions such as gynecological diseases, skin conditions, rheumatism, gastrointestinal disorders, wounds, diabetes, and neuralgia, making them highly popular among visitors.
